I was accepted into medical school. This is a victory. This is beyond a victory. I am one of the few who will actually get to do this. I am going to be a doctor.
I loved this school when I interviewed there. I thought things went really well, and I got an awesome vibe there. I thought the students were cool, and I thought I would fit in well with them. I also got along extremely well with everyone. This is a school in south, which excites me since I have lived my whole life in the northeast. It's time for a change of pace, and I want to broaden my horizons by getting some experience in another part of the country.
This school is also a quality school. It's by no means a top tier school, but it definitely falls solidly in the middle tier, which I think is pretty good given my application statistics, specifically my gpa. I love the location, a city I have been to many times since I was younger. I am excited beyond words! I loved this school; honestly, there are only three or four on my application list which I might consider over it.
Seriously, to have gone from being unsure if I would even get into med school 12 months ago, to sitting here being accepted to one of my favorite schools now... is mind blowing. It's amazing.
The only downside is that it is a state school for which I am out of state. For those that don't know, when you are out of state for a state medical school, you end up paying absurd tuition. Total expenses - including books, living expenses, car, etc, and tuition - is estimated to run somewhere around 85,000 dollars. On the flip side, I was one of 2000 out of staters who applied for about 30 out of state spots. I think this speaks very highly of my application and interview skills, and I am really pleased with myself.
I'll deal with the cost when I get to it. Others have done it and been fine.
I am going to be a doctor! I am SO HAPPY! I can't wait until this cycle is over, so I can tell you all what school it is!

Congratz!
