1.) Playoffs Continue
I have officially predicted the Saints to win it all. I think Drew Brees, besides being the coolest professional athlete, is playing at a ridiculous level right now. Their offense is almost machine like at this point.
The Saints are playing the Niners at 4:30, so we'll see if my prediction holds up. Anyway, I'm enjoying the playoffs, and I hope you are too.
2.) Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
I liked it. It was a good movie. I liked the third in the series more. It's actually interesting to look at the series and think how much the style has changed. The first was all stealth and spy and maneuvering. The later movies go more toward the ridiculous and stunt driven action... which I actually like more. MI2 was terrible, though.
I also have to wonder how many more of these there are going to be; Tom Cruise is starting to look a little old.
3.) Exorcism Movies
I have never seen an excorcism movie... until this vacation. My girlfriend and I went and saw The Devil Inside in theaters. She thought it sucked, so on the way home, we rented The Rite, which she said was really freaky.

| Awesome actor, bad movie. |
At the end of the day, I thought the Devil Inside was actually pretty good. The ending was terrible, and obviously they are trying to leave you on a cliffhanger to make a sequel. I hate when they do that, but whatever. It was an interesting take on the usual exorcism plotline (at least my conception of it), and overall I thought it was good. I didn't like The Rite. I love Anthony Hopkins, but I couldn't help but be bored even during the climax of the movie. Any thoughts?
4.) Interesting Article about Pre-meds
My buddy shot me a link to this article, which he found on the Student Doctor forums. I have been thinking about writing an article dealing with my own thoughts about pre-meds, but I haven't gotten to it yet. It's worth a quick read.
5.) Super 8
As promised, I have been watching a lot of movies on vacation. Super 8 was pretty awesome, probably the best movie we have seen over break. Check it out.
6.) Sanctum
This movie was okay. The biggest thing it did for me is make me firmly decide to never go cave diving. That stuff was scary.
The interesting thing is that the beginning of the movie tells you it is based on a true story. Yeah... that's a bit of a stretch. In the movie, virtually everyone died and it was terrifying. In real life, everyone survived just fine, and they were communicating with the surface the whole time. I have no doubt it was still a terrifying experience... but "based on a true story" sounds like a stretch to me.

Hey there, sounds like the vacation has been going well.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the Saints, especially Brees, have been playing craZy. I hope to see Rodgers vs Brees next weekend. Both quarterbacks are great athletes, but also great people. Either one who wins that matchup will get my vote to win the Superbowl. As far as the AFC, I have to admit, go Tebow! Last weekend's OT thriller was fun to watch, and nice to see Tebow actually throwing the ball. Today, I will be on the Tebow train, praying for a miracle against Brady and the Pats, but its going to be a long shot. We will have to see.
Mission impossible movies have evolved like you said. I feel its harder to impress an audience nowadays, and that's why they have changed. But it works, and that's why I wanted to see this movie over the holidays.
One movie that I highly recommend, especially due to the golden globes award show is coming up, is Moneyball. Its a great movie, Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill are great in it. You don't need to love baseball in order to love this movie. Give it a watch, if you haven't seen it yet.
Good luck with any interviews or acceptances coming up. Keep up the work with the blog.
Ah, just after I make my official prediction public, the Saints lose! Oh well. I was really hoping for a Green Bay vs Saints NFC Championship too, and I would agree that the winner would go on to win it all.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the Tebow thing didn't happen either. Despite being a Raiders fan, I was rooting for him too, but I never had much hope.
I totally forgot to include Moneyball. I saw it three or four days ago, and you're right. It was great. I might just have to cheat a little and throw it in the next reflections. Thanks for the tip, though!
