I'm also excited because one of my best friends (since second grade!) lives and works out there now that he has graduated. I don't get to see him often, and I can't just fly out there without an excuse, so I'm glad to get this opportunity to visit him for a productive reason. Right now, my plan is to head into town the day before the interview, maybe grap dinner with him, and prep for the interview that night. After the interview, I'll head over to his place, and hopefully he'll be down to show me just how fun the city can be.
I don't have much else to say, except that I'm filling out scholarship applications for the school I have been accepted to. I suspect most scholarships aren't available to out of state students, but hey, it's worth a shot to get that giant price tag down a little. I have noticed that a few of the scholarships are for pretty small amounts of money, like $500-1000. As much as I would like to remain positive about the opportunity to get any help at all... that wouldn't even put in a dent.
So far this application cycle, of the 25-30 schools I applied to, I have been invited to 6 interviews. I have gone to three (acceptance, wait list at my home state, and pending at the top school) and will attend a fourth. I declined the fifth and sixth. I'm pretty happy with the success I have had thus far. I'm also happy to have another interview. I know this may sound odd, but I truly enjoy interviewing. It's nice to get a feel for how different these schools are. Each school I have visisted seemed to have a different focus/angle. It's also nice to talk to doctors and students at the schools; at this stage in the game, I still want to learn anything I can about what medical school is like.
My girlfriend and I are still enjoying our vacation, and I hope all is well for all of you.
